Fire Truck, Pumpkins!!

This month we had the fire department come and visit us! (It was a planned visit, no worries...) The kids are always thrilled when that happens. Their faces light up as soon as they see the fire truck pull up!

They each got to go inside the firetruck. They were so happy to be inside that some of them even cried when we had to take them out. Thank you fire fighters for coming and visiting our school. We hope to see you visit again soon!

The preschool classes got to go on an awesome field trip to the pumpkin patch in October! They all had so much fun on their field trip that they even brought back pumpkins for the Rose Room :) The Rose Room kids were very excited to see all the pumpkins arriving, and we let each of our kiddos choose their very own pumpkin to take home! We're bringing the pumpkin patch to Creative Minds :)

After choosing their very own pumpkin, we let the kids decorate them! Using glue and all sorts of colored glitter, they all had so much fun and the pumpkins look beautiful!

Continuing on with our interest in pumpkins, we then made paper plate pumpkins! We looked at the shape of the pumpkins in our room and saw that it was nearly a circle, so we made some orange circles of our own. The kids got a paper plate and painted orange paint all over the plate. They also added some white glitter to make the pumpkin sparkle, just like their real ones! We also added a stem on top of the plate just like a real pumpkin has. Any time the Rose Room has a painting project going on, the kids are always very excited to jump right in and get to work :)

Another favorite pumpkin tie-in this month was reading the book "Spookley the Square Pumpkin." The children enjoyed listening to the book on CD almost every day, then making their own square pumpkins out of boxes. Who knew you could do so much with a simple vegetable?

Happy Fall!

Jello fun, Cars!!

Our kids in Rose Room enjoy baking and cooking projects! We made Jello this time and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight, and ate the yummy Jello the next day! It was fun for the kids to practice stirring the Jello mixture and water together and practicing not going too fast and spilling the mixture out of the bowl! The kids did a great job and enjoyed the delicious treat :)

Rose Room has been very interested in transportation lately! The kids can't get enough of Lightning McQueen :) We decided to go along with this theme and have been doing lots of cool transportation activities lately! Since the weather has been so beautiful the last couple of weeks, we have been bringing activities outside! We brought out our basket full of cars, some shaving cream, and a piece of long butcher paper and let the kids have a blast!

Another fun project that we did with the kids was letting them make their very own paper plate car! The kids first put glue onto the paper plate, added some tissue paper, and then put two black wheels onto their car! The kids really took their time gluing pieces onto their paper plate car and they all turned out so cute!

Tacos, Ocean/Rainbow Fish!

We had a taco party in Rose Room, where the kids got to make their very own tacos! We started off the morning by reading the book "Dragons love tacos." It was such a fun and silly book the kids loved it. Then we warmed up our tortillas, added some beans, tomatoes, and cheese and rolled it all up! The kids loved the tacos some even asked for seconds :)

We have been talking about and doing lots of fun activities about the ocean and sea animals. We first painted with blue and white paint and blue glitter to make it look like ocean colors. We also sprinkled white sand over the paint to look like the ocean sand. Kids were very excited about their artwork and look at it on the wall every day!

We have been reading and looking through the book "The Rainbow Fish." Such a fun book for the kids to read and see all the beautiful colors, so we decided to make our very own rainbow fish! We made them on old CD's. The kids glued colorful sequins, glitter, and the fish's fins onto it. They turned out so beautifully!

Sun C. atchers, Water Play!

Thank you to S's mom for coming into our classroom and doing an art project with the kids! She helped our kids make sun catchers with glitter, and tissue paper. The kids had a blast with the project, and we could tell by all the glitter that was all over the classroom :)

Water Play day is always a big hit for our little ones! The kids get to come to school in their bathing suits, we set up a little pool full of water and the kids have so much fun splashing around :) Our water play day was perfectly timed since the weather was so hot that week and everyone got a chance to cool down a little.

Happy summer!
